Ant- Man and the Wasp is a
river of comedy and a perennial one at that. It does not give the audience a
moment’s rest. This fun-fest, which is a follow-up to Ant-Man and Captain
America: Civil War, finds Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) under house arrest. His days
as the insect sized superhero is over following his exploits in Civil War. However,
when Hope (Evangeline Lilly) and Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) approaches him
with an urgent mission, he once again has to don the Ant-Man suit and risk
jeopardizing his freedom in the process.
The movie builds up on
the story and the characters from the first movie and adds a host of new characters.
Both the new and the old cast are equally brilliant. Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man and
Evangeline Lilly’s Wasp are perfect as the newest MCU superhero duo. Of the
supporting cast, Michael Douglas’ Dr. Hank Pym is a strong presence. Similarly,
Luis (Michael Pena), the old fan favourite, shines above all else and reaffirms
his fan favourite tag. New characters like Agent Woo (Randall Park), Ghost (Hannah
John- Kamen) and Sonny Burch (Water Goggins) also stand out.
As a movie, it a typical Marvel
flick. It has great action sequences, great CGI and effortless progression of the
plot. In addition to all that, it is a landmine of comedy. The dialogues, the
character interactions and action sequences combine seamlessly to deliver a
brilliant action comedy.
However, as much as I loved
the movie, I was left wanting for more. As much as it entertained, once out of
the theatre not much of the movie remained with me. Unlike the recent MCU
offerings, this one leaves you with an unfamiliar feeling of being satisfied
and not at the same time.
